Transitioning from high school to college can sometimes be difficult, and Academic Advisors are the first support resource beyond the classroom. Academic Advisors focus on coaching and empowering students toward their success so that they may self-advocate and make the best decisions for their academic health and progress.听 We provide students with meaningful support that aids in aligning students’ academic pursuits and career goals to foster future success as citizens. 听Academic Advisors do not take these responsibilities out of the students鈥 hands. Instead, they coach students on the available resources and the time frames, and they are personally involved to help resolve any issues.
Students must communicate early and often with their academic advisors so that if any class issue arises, we can use the best resources, and the matter can be accessed by both the academic advisor and the student.听It is always the student鈥檚 responsibility to ask for assistance. CARS Academic Advisors will try to provide helpful reminders and outreach to encourage students to stay in close touch.
To ensure Lions learn critical academic self-reliance in the first year, CARS Academic Advisors require new students to attend TWO (2) mandatory advising conferences during each term (Fall and Spring). Visit Your Academic Advisor for assistance with the following:
