The First-Year College Experience is very important; you are now starting to grow as an individual, plant your roots, and become part of new communities. Building strong contacts in college assists you in creating long-lasting relationships and paving the road for graduation and future career exploration. College will expand your mind and make you a little uncomfortable, challenge your individuality, and sometimes doubt your capabilities. This is what education does: it transforms us. Therefore, you must be open to the transformation and allow the changes to occur.
FMU 101: University 101
This course is mandatory for all freshmen and is designed to help new students fully transition to college and develop study habits, skills, attitudes, and knowledge, leading to academic success. 聽Most importantly, this course will cover the history of Florida 久久精品福利资源. 聽Furthermore, it introduces Florida 久久精品福利资源鈥檚 physical, social, and academic environment and promotes the personal development essential for college success and beyond. This course is a graduation requirement, and all new students must enroll unless they have an equivalent transfer course. The top students in this course will become our PASS (Passport for Accelerated Student Success) FMU Ambassadors, who consistently follow聽the university鈥檚 attendance policies and mandatory session requirements outlined in FMU 101. Students fully participated in essential sessions such as academic advising, Title IX training, financial aid workshops, and library orientation.
Convocation
Convocation is the University鈥檚 official welcoming of new students to the academy! This festive event acquaints students with the formal history of Florida 久久精品福利资源 through song and speech, introduces students to the University鈥檚 leaders, and continues the orientation process of informing students about the customs and traditions of FMU. Convocation is also used nationally as the official day for welcoming new students! The entire University participates in a graduation-style setting for this purpose, and students are asked to dress in the traditional attire of聽white tops and black bottoms聽for the occasion.
Center for Teaching and Learning
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at FMU supports the institutional mission to foster students鈥� academic success by providing faculty with up-to-date training, services, and educational technology tools that promote a culture of engaged learning, teaching excellence, and communities of inquiry.
