Institutional Scholarship Policy

Florida ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ·¸£Àû×ÊÔ´ > Admissions > Financial Aid > Institutional Scholarship Policy

The information in this policy serves as a guide to understanding how institutional scholarships work at Florida ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ·¸£Àû×ÊÔ´ (FMU). This policy outlines the institutional and student responsibilities as it relates to renewal of institutional scholarships in future years.

Please read the policy thoroughly to understand the terms and conditions for each institutional scholarship that applies to your student profile and/or account

  1. Beginning Fall 2025, scholarship recipients must be registered for at least 15 credit hours per semester. Full-time enrollment at FMU is defined as 12 or more credits per semester. To complete your degree within four years as an entering first-year freshman, the typical course load is at least 15 credits per semester to complete 120 credits within 4 years. It is the aim of all scholarship recipients to Roar in Four! Scholarships are only awarded for Fall and Spring semesters. *
  2. You may receive a scholarship for a maximum of 4 years (8 semesters) of continuous enrollment, as a first-year freshman. Transfer of credits or advanced standing may reduce the length of your eligibility. For instance, a student who enters with 30 hours will be eligible for a maximum of 3 years (6 consecutive semesters). This is determined when the scholarship is awarded, and it will not be extended for any reason.
  3. Institutional Scholarships will be disbursed at least 7 days after eligible federal student aid.
  4. Credit balance refunds are not permitted from any institutional scholarship. Any credit balance that appears on a student account after the awarding or disbursement of funds will be reduced by the amount of any outside scholarship or grant.
  5. You must remain in good academic standing (2.0 GPA) and maintain the high standards of personal conduct expected of all students in the FMU community. If your scholarship requires a higher GPA, you must meet that GPA requirement for renewal.
    1. Academic standing is reviewed at the end of each semester. If you are in good academic standing, your scholarship will be automatically renewed for the following year.
    2. The Student Life office will notify Financial Aid if there is a serious non-academic violation resulting in your suspension or expulsion from the University. If you are suspended or expelled, your scholarship will be revoked. Conduct that does not result in a suspension or expulsion may still disqualify renewal, depending on the nature of the offense.
  6. To receive your scholarship, you must attend FMU beginning in the Fall semester of the academic year. Failure to start in the fall semester will result in the forfeiture of your scholarship offer. Scholarship offers cannot be deferred to a subsequent semester or academic year.
  7. To indicate your commitment to attend, you must pay your tuition deposit by July 1 for Fall Admission.
  8. Beginning Fall 2025, all scholarship recipients must complete and submit a Scholarship Award Agreement by July 15th, ahead of the upcoming semester. Failure to complete and submit a Scholarship Award Agreement by this deadline can result in the forfeiture of your award for the upcoming academic semester.
  9. Scholarships that are revoked for failure to meet the renewal guidelines cannot be appealed.
  10. All domestic students who are offered an institutional scholarship of any kind must have a completed FAFSA and any required subsequent documentation on file by April 15th for renewal in the upcoming year.
  11. If your scholarship includes housing, the scholarship will only cover double occupancy fees. Any additional fees for off-campus or single occupancy will not be covered by an institutional scholarship.
  12. Please make note of the Grade Point Average renewal criteria for the following institutional scholarships:
    1. Presidential Honors Scholarship – 3.5
    2. Academic Excellence Scholarship – 3.25
    3. Academic Achievement Scholarship – 3.0
    4. Transfer Scholarship – 3.0

* Required credit hours for students on Athletics Scholarship or those in their graduating year may vary.
