FMU Dual Enrollment Program

Dual enrollment is an acceleration mechanism that allows eligible high school students to simultaneously enroll in college course(s).

According to the US Department of Education, college credit earned before high school graduation reduces the average time to earn a degree and increases the likelihood of graduation for the students who participate in these programs.

The credits students earn at Florida 久久精品福利资源 count toward high school graduation and can be applied to a college degree or certificate. Dual enrollment students also receive university incentives such as a Lion ID card, access to the FMU library, student resources, and the chance to experience FMU.

Start by meeting with your school counselor, or parent/legal guardian if you are a home school student and discuss dual enrollment opportunities.

Students Eligibility:

  1. Each student must be enrolled in a M-DCPS school, grades 9 to 12.
  2. Each student must have a 2.7 or better unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale unless an approved waiver is granted by FMU for a student with a 2.2 – 2.6 GPA.
  3. Permission must be obtained from the student鈥檚 parent(s) or legal guardian(s), high school guidance counselor, and high school principal to participate in FMU鈥檚 dual enrollment courses by completing the Acknowledgment/Authorization Form.
  4. Each student expresses intent to pursue a postsecondary degree.

How to Apply

Step 1: Apply for Admission

  • Secondary School Students must apply for Dual Enrollment Admission.

Step 2: Provide College Placement Scores

  • Secondary School Counselor requests for SAT/ACT scores to be sent electronically to FMU.
  • If students have college-ready PERT Scores (from your high school), the Testing and Assessment Department at FMU can retrieve them from a repository.

Step 3: Complete the Dual Enrollment Recommendation Form

  • The Dual Enrollment Recommendation Form must be completed and certified by the student鈥檚 parent/guardian, Principal, and School Counselor at the high school where the student is enrolled.

Step 4:聽 Registration

  • Once the Dual Enrollment Program Form is returned to FMU, our FMU Admission Office will process it and register the student based on the courses the student selected.
  • FMU Admissions will send the student an e-mail confirming enrollment.

FMU Dual Enrollment Courses

Enrolling at FMU gives outstanding high school students a wider range of courses to choose from. Any course in the Statewide Course Numbering System (SCNS) can be offered as dual enrollment, except remedial courses and Physical Education skills-based courses.

Become a Partner School

Dual Enrollment partnerships support student’s access to higher education. High schools can offer students challenging and innovative college courses while high school instructors can engage in professional development.

Instructors:

Minimum instructor credentials for all undergraduate courses.

  • Master’s degree or higher in the discipline.
  • Master’s degree + a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline.

If you meet these requirements, and your school will be offering a dual enrollment course, your school can request you be considered for a Courtesy Lecturer appointment. The appointment must be approved by the FMU academic unit. School聽 instructors on Courtesy Lecturer appointments can engage in discipline-specific professional development and collegial interaction with Faculty Liaisons.
