Eight Air Force JROTC cadets have earned their private pilot licenses after completing an intensive eight-week flight training program

This is the third year FMU has hosted the Air Force JROTC Summer Flight Academy through its aviation program, in conjunction with Wayman Aviation, to high school students who come from across the country for the honor to take part in the program.
Due to a shortage of pilots the Air Force implemented the JROTC program in 2017 with academies at 20 colleges and universities throughout the U.S.
During Thursday’s graduation ceremony the cadets and their families were given a brief history about the founding of FMU in 1879.
The cadets were told that they are now ambassadors of the university and should let the world know what they have achieved here.
