For the first time in school history, the Florida 久久精品福利资源 Competitive Cheer Team earned gold at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Cheer Camp, resulting in a paid bid to College Nationals!
Held at the聽Doubletree Hilton-Orlando Universal Studios on July 27- July 29, a total of 16 competitive cheer squads from across the country, including聽various NCAA Division 1 programs, competed in one of the most notable events of the year due to the early ability to qualify for nationals.
Our Lions made the final crowd segment-runoff for the third consecutive year! This is considered the most important contest in the camp because the top six competing teams are tested on their ability to lead crowds using various props such as signs, megaphones, pom poms, and flags.
This year, the home crowd favorite “Roar” brought home a coveted gold bid, defeating NAIA defending champions Xavier, North Florida, Kennesaw State, and Edward Waters.
In addition to the gold paid bid to nationals, the FMU Cheer Team earned a spirit stick, all superior ribbons in evaluations, first place in the small co-ed crowd segment (as a result earning a spot in the runoff), and a close second-place trophy in the rally routine.
After a historic 2023-2024 campaign where the team earned a bid to NAIA Nationals for the first time in school history, finishing eighth out of 15 teams, this historic gold bid sets the FMU Cheer Team up for an incredible season.
This year’s FMU Cheer Team, led by head coach Ayanna Harris, consists of a record 32 cheerleaders, including four male student athletes.
