
Dr. Vena Symonette-Johnson obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Science (Concentration in Flight Education) from Florida ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ·¸£Àû×ÊÔ´ and graduated with honors. She pursued further studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and obtained a double Master’s degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical Science with specialties in Safety and Operations. She has completed her Doctorate degree from Atlantic International University in International Business. Dr. Symonette-Johnson has a vast amount of experience in the aviation field spanning back to 1989. She worked her way up through the ranks from customer service representative to management, she is a Commercial pilot and Certified Flight Instructor.
Dr. Symonette-Johnson has served as the Interim Chair for the Department of Aviation and Safety from August 2018 to July 2020. She was instrumental in the initial accreditation of the Aviation Management Program with Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) and its subsequent re-accreditation in 2019. She also worked on the initial and re-accreditation of 14 CFR PART 141 for the Flight Program.
Her passions in life include flying, teaching, and traveling. Most important in her life is God, family, and good friends. She is an active member of many organizations including OBAP, Women in Aviation, Tuskegee Airmen and Board Member and Secretary for Greater Miami Aviation Association. She is the former advisor for Florida ¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ·¸£Àû×ÊԴ’s Chapter of Alpha Eta Rho, OBAP and Women in Aviation. Former board member for Experience Aviation, she also assisted Capt. Barrington Irving – (Guinness World Book of Records) in the launch of his historic flight. Dr. Symonette-Johnson has assisted many young adults in obtaining positions in the aviation industry in the last twenty plus years.
In addition, she serves in children’s ministry at her local church. Dr. Symonette-Johnson is also a Realtor and Real Estate Investor.
